From 1928 to 1933, commercial flights were carried out by Yonkers Airlines. The establishment of Iran Airlines continued from 1940 to 1947 with the cooperation of the Ministry of Posts in the “Homa” club, on the current location of Mehrabad Airport. This club was able to purchase 25 airplanes from America worth more than 128,000 dollars with the cost of people’s taxes and the management of Qavamol molke Shirazi and a group of political and cultural figures of that time, such as “Shokatolmolk Alam”, the minister of Posts and Telegraphs at the time, and the club set up with the aim of training an expert force in flight. The process that stopped with the beginning of World War II and the occupation of Iran by the Allies in 1942. This company initially started its work with domestic flights and then expended to International destinations. Iran aviation “Iranian Airways” was founded in April, 1946 and its first passenger flight was from Tehran to Mashhad after World War II. In 1321, two Iranian businessmen started the first airline carrying the Iranian flag named "Iranian Airways". This company initially started its work with domestic flights and then expanded its scope to international destinations. Iran's airline "Iranian Airways" was established in May 1325 and started its first flight on the route from Tehran to the Holy Mashhad after the Second World War and during 17 years (1324 to 1340), gradually with only a few International flight became the most important domestic airline.

In 1333, the second Iranian private airline named (Persin Air Services) was established in Tehran, and most of its flights are from Tehran and Abadan to Paris, London, Brussels, It was done in Beirut, Brindisi, Basel and Geneva. At first, "Persian Airways" only operated cargo flights to Europe. During that period, Iranian Airways created new airlines by purchasing Douglas DC-7C aircraft from the Belgian Sabena company, and in 1336, purchased Vickers Viscount luxury aircraft from England. In that year, this company had 10 domestic flight destinations and 14 foreign flight destinations. The geographical situation of the country of Iran and its wide expansion, the distance of relatively densely populated centers from each other, the lack of means of transportation, both road and rail, the need for fast and reliable communication between scientific and governmental organizations, and most importantly, the lack of a regular network with high capabilities in the direction of revitalization Reciprocal air rights with other countries, as well as providing more welfare and comfort for the people of Iran, etc. created the conditions for the Council of Ministers on the twenty-first of Bahman 1340, to the proposal of the Minister of Roads to establish an aircraft company owned by The nation approves.

Following the approval of the ministers' agreement, on the 5th of March 1340, the two mentioned companies were merged with each other, and Major General Ali Mohammad Khademi was appointed as the CEO of "Homa". His goal of starting this company was to create a national airline and serve Iranians. In the first days and months of the establishment of the company, while placing an advertisement in the newspaper for the recruitment of Iranian airline employees and the personnel working in the two mentioned companies, it also invited to cooperate and started its activity from April 1341, and thus "Homa" has 700 people. hired At that time, "Homa" was the only organization that conducted intelligence tests on job applicants before employment. Lieutenant General Ali Mohammad Khademi was an Iranian soldier and manager. From 1341 to 1357, he was the CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of National Iran Air Company for 17 years. In 1341, the first Hajj operation was carried out entirely by "Huma". In previous years, this operation was carried out in cooperation with another airline. In the 1970s, "Huma" took the title of the fastest growing airline in the world. In 1341, Iran Air had thirteen small planes and nearly seven hundred and fifty employees. In 1357, this statistic reached thirty-seven Boeings and more than twelve thousand eight hundred employees.

The reasons for the growth of "Homa" were based on the fact that at the beginning of its establishment, a management consulting company was invited, which carefully examined the organization of "Homa" and found an organization that fits its mission. provide an advanced airline. It should be mentioned that the first flight of Iran Air with a jet aircraft was carried out in 1344, using a Boeing 727 on the Tehran-Beirut route. After that, Iran Air Company decided to convert its entire fleet into jet airplanes. "Homa" started its flights using prestigious airplanes such as: Douglas DC 3, Douglas DC 6, Vickers Viscount and Everyork. The flight of such planes made this company's airline become a full member of IATA in 1342. The IATA Association (IATA) or the International Air Transport Association had the task of aligning the airlines with the current standards of the world. (standardization of things like tickets, bills of lading, airplanes, etc.) "Homa" gained such credibility and prestige in a short period of time that banks were satisfied with the signature of the CEO of Iran Air and the seal of the company and gave loans. From the actions at that time, on March 24, 1342, when Iran Air had only 78 flight attendants, 9 flight attendants were sent to Stockholm for training courses. Another measure of "Homa" is a 40% discount for government employees, students and family signatures, which on the one hand created an opening in the affairs of people who could not travel abroad, and on the other hand, a new market was created for "Homa". .

The 50s was called the golden era of "Homa". According to the contract signed in October 1351, between "Huma" airline company and European companies, Iran Air ordered two "supersonic Concorde" planes, which later did not enter the fleet of "Huma" airline. In the late 70s, the national airline Iran Air was considered as the fastest growing, most modern and most profitable airline in the world. In 1353, "Homa" high school of hospitality was established. And in the following year, a number of Boeing 737-100, Boeing 727-200, expensive Boeing 747 aircraft of both types 100 and 200 SP  It was purchased by Iran Air and entered the fleet. In the mid-70s, "Homa" company made many non-stop flights to the European continent every day. During this period, Iran Air Airlines was making 30 flights only on the Tehran-London route during the week. Then, using the Boeing 707, he started the Tehran to New York John F. Kennedy Airport with a stop at the London Heathrow Airport. By purchasing the 747SP, this aircraft, with its long-range capability, was used on the Tehran-New York route. did In this way, the longest non-stop airline was launched and in 1353, "Huma" was named the safest airline in the world, after the Australian company "Qantas".

In 1978 AD, it purchased 6 Airbus A300 aircrafts from the European Airbus company and became the first operator of Airbus aircraft in the Middle East. And at the end of the year, the "Homa" fleet was flying to more than 31 destinations inside and outside Iran, from Beijing and Tokyo to New York, and the national airline is still launching new airlines to Los Angeles and It was Sydney. After the resignation of the then CEO, Major General Nasrallah Amirfazli, he became the CEO of "Homa" on 16 September 1357, and in November 1357, his management in "Homa" ended. Then, Mr. "Hoshang Todjed" was elected as the managing director of "Homa", but the life of the director of "Todjed" did not last long and he was only for 3 months and a few days as the head of "Homa". The next managing director of National Iran Airlines, who was accompanied by the Minister of Economy, was Shakibnia. He graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics at the Higher Academy of Arts and graduated from Tehran University of Law with a bachelor's degree. After his presence, it was not long before Mr. Hoshang Tadjed assumed the temporary supervision of "Homa". During this period, Iran's national airline was under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy. Then Mr. Siros Chaichian, the deputy CEO, took the helm of "Homa" and after him, Mr. "Taghi Farahi", a graduate from America, became the CEO of "Homa".

(During the imposed war) the official name of the company was changed to the Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines "Homa" in 1360. This year, "Homa" transported 1.7 million passengers. The Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines "Homa", in the years of the imposed war, despite the existing pressures and threats, performed its services in the best possible way. Action contrary to all human principles and human rights of Western countries in boycotting the sale of airplanes and necessary parts to a commercial airline company that was only responsible for transporting passengers and commercial cargo, was condemned without a doubt by all free thinkers in the world. Although after the victory of the Islamic revolution, Iran was struggling with the issue of international sanctions, especially from the United States, and the withdrawal of its foreign and expert personnel, but with the help of its capable and committed forces, it was able to replace the local forces and train the youth and education. to meet their needs and localize the knowledge of aircraft repairs that was once available only to foreign specialists. In the years after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, a number of Fokker 100, Airbus and Boeing aircraft were also added to "Homa" company. Also, for the first time since the beginning of the sanctions, "Homa" managed to add a cargo plane to its fleet and replace it with a worn-out fleet that left "Homa's" flight line many years ago, which caused a decrease in "Homa's" share in the international transportation market. And it was quoted. During this period, important measures were also taken in the engineering and repairs of "Homa". The proud and successful execution of IL-Check in the war and very difficult conditions of the country, which was under the baran rocket of the Baathist enemy) on two Airbus A300 B2 aircraft, which started from the end of the first half of the sixties and continued until the beginning of the second half of the same decade. Found and finished. Foreign technicians and specialists were replaced with Iranian trained forces in the general departments under the vice-chancellor of engineering and repairs, such as engineering, planning, hangars, avionics workshops and mechanical workshops, and the construction, completion and operation of Airbus and Fokker hangars. - The beginning of the construction of the maintenance platform (TAIL DOCK) to access the horizontal and vertical rudders to carry out repairs on Airbus aircraft and studies to carry out major repairs on narrow body aircraft. ATE-900 automatic test of computer parts of Boeing airplanes and also ATEC-4000 automatic tester were launched in avionics workshops. In the second half of 1360 (the period of imposed war), the phase of studies for the construction of Orhal hangar began. Also, other actions such as: repairing the horizontal rudder of the Boeing 707, repairing and restarting the high pressure pump testing device (HYDRAULIC TEST BENCH) of the plane, documenting the coloring map of "Homa" planes with standard definitions for the size and location of the logo, flag , writings, signs, addresses and so on. At this time, the study phase of purchasing the automatic tester ATEC-5000 for testing and repairing the computer parts of Fokker airplanes began.

With the beginning of the seventies and "Homa" reaching 30 years of experience, a group of old and experienced employees of "Homa" according to the laws of that period in the country, 30 years of their work experience completed and reached the border of retirement. In the beginning of 1370, "Engineer Seyed Hassan Shefti" became the CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines "Homa". During that period, the CEO of "Huma" was able to purchase and import 10 new airplanes (two Airbus 600-300, six Fokker 100 and two Fokker 50) directly from the manufacturers. In those years, Shafti signed a contract for 30 airplanes with Airbus, took delivery of two of them and (he was supposed to take delivery of 7 airplanes every year for four years, but for some reasons during that period), he delivered the remaining 28 airplanes. The balance was cancelled. By concluding a contract with Fokker Netherlands, (6 Fokker 100 and two Fokker 50) were sold to Iran directly from the factory, but for some reasons, only 6 were allowed to be purchased, and then they entered "Homa" company.

The first direct purchase of Iran after the Islamic revolution was from the manufacturing factories, and if a new plane was delivered to Homa before that, it was based on the contracts before the revolution. At the end of 2010, activities such as: converting five Boeing 737 aircraft engines to Boeing 727 aircraft engines using internal power and avoiding currency costs for repairing Boeing 727 engines, carrying out Section 41 checks and inspections on Boeing 747 aircraft, designing and writing The computer program for the mechanization of all the general administration of avionics workshops was carried out by specialists, obtaining the license of the standard department and providing calibration services to the aviation industry as well as other industries of the country in the calibration and standard laboratory of avionics workshops. According to the proposal of the then Minister of Roads and Transport, Seyyed Ahmadreza Kazemi, he was the CEO of "Homa" for 2 years from Mehr 1376 to March 1379. Also, at the end of this decade, the managers of Iran Air at the time made extensive efforts to directly purchase several planes from Airbus, but finally, due to the explicit opposition of the United States, the Airbus contract was terminated.

In March 1379, Kfarzian became the CEO of "Homa" for four years. During his management period, measures such as the purchase of six Airbus planes were carried out. On the 2nd of Azar 2004, the first Airbus 321 with EP-IGD registration entered Iran. This aircraft was configured as a VIP by the government of the time and for the use of the country's officials, but it finally entered Iran at the beginning of the next government and remained as the ceremonial fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The arrival of the first Airbus in that period can be seen as the beginning of a new era in Iran's aviation industry. In Mehr 1387, Davod Keshavarzian entrusted the helm of "Homa" to Saeed Hesami, he was the CEO of "Homa" for 4 years until September 1388. During this period, basic measures were taken in the engineering and repairs unit. During that period, the first overhaul of wide-body aircraft in the country was carried out on the Airbus EP-IBT aircraft. The proud, honorable and noteworthy point in the project of this course was the completion of the Test Flight, when the pilot of the test flight (Captain Shirzad) confirmed the correctness of the overhaul by writing the sentence NIL (Non Item Listed) and cleared the plane. Also, during this decade, the continuation of the growing process of maintenance approvals in order to perform tests, repairs and major repairs on airplanes and various electrical and electronic (avionics and) mechanical parts including connections, accessories, structures, fuel, hydraulics, pneumatics , safety, decoration, wheel, brake, engine, etc.) due to the addition of new planes to the "Homa" fleet, it prevented the departure of millions of foreign currency dollars from the country. In this decade, "Homa" engineering and repair department managed to obtain the certificate for the production of plastic parts of composite materials from the Civil Aviation Organization, obtaining the license and certificate for light and heavy repairs (EASA part 145) from the European Union.

In 1394, after the implementation of the nuclear agreement, the Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines "Homa" was able to sign a contract for 118 airplanes with Airbus on January 28. With the start of the JCPOA implementation, a large part of the sanctions on Iran's aviation industry was lifted. The cancellation of sanctions made the refueling of "Homa" planes resume in most European destinations, and Iran Air had the opportunity to purchase new planes to perform its flights to Europe with better quality. During this period, most of Iran Air's flights to Europe were carried out by (Airbus A321 and 330) purchased after the JCPOA. The purchase of the aircraft by "Homa" opened a new chapter in the aviation legal category in the country. On January 23, 2015, the first new Airbus (A321) aircraft, registered EP-IFA, was purchased and entered the "Homa" fleet. This Airbus was the first plane that Iran Air had purchased in a new form after years of sanctions, based on the JCPOA agreement. In July 2016, Farzane Sharafbafi replaced Farhad Poresh and started her management in "Homa". During his management, thirteen ATR planes, two A-330 and one A-321 were added to the "Homa" fleet. On May 15, 2018, the Council of Ministers, in appreciation of the services of Farzane Sharafbafi, the former CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines, appointed "Toraj Dehghani Zanganeh" as the CEO of the Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines. He was the CEO of "Homa" for 15 months. During this period, "Homa" flights to the Scandinavian region of Europe were re-established, and following the lifting of the suspension, "Homa" flights of the Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines were established by the Swedish Transport Agency on the routes to Stockholm and Gothenburg. In September 2018, "Homa" held the record for domestic flights at Tehran's Mehrabad International Airport. Also, on November 21, 2018, the Islamic Republic of Iran Airlines "Homa" made the most domestic flights at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran, and the largest number of non-delayed flights belonged to Iran Air.
